RV Tech Week!

June 1st to the 8th is RV Tech Week and we wanted to take this opportunity to let all of our RV Techs know just how much we appreciate them. They are one of the hardest working groups of people we know and here at ArrKann, we just wouldn't work without them!

We've heard alot of stories this week about how much our customers also appreciate our techs! We've heard customers comment on how knowledgeable and helpful they are, how some have gone out of their way to meet them off site for a last minute repair, to others who have built a relationship with their tech througout the years as they have always requested the same technician to service their RV!

We asked our Service Director, who is also a journeyman, what he wants everybody to know about the appeal of becoming an RV Tech. He loves the fact that an RV Tech's skill set is incredibly varied. Whether something needs fixing or building on the job or at home, you can bet they probably know how! From electrical to carpentry to plumbing, they do a bit of everything! He also loves the fact that the RV industry is very stable. People will always go camping and although you may think it would be seasonal work, this is actually not the case. Service and maintenance happens all year long. He also appreciates that technicians are home every night with their own families unlike many trades that require travel. He also wants customers to realize the fact that for an RV Dealership to offer maintenance and service, it is mandatory in Alberta to have a journeyman on staff... so you know that you and your RV will be properly taken care of!

"FACT: RV Service Technician is a recognized Red Seal Trade in all Canadian Provinces, The Red Seal Program is the national standard of excellence for skilled trades in Canada.

In many cases, achieving trade certification in a Red Seal Trade is equivalent to a post-secondary degree with the tremendous knowledge, skills and experience acquired on the job.

FACT: Apprentices will learn over 14 skilled trades under the one, RV service technician trade over a 3 year, (8 week) block release program.

FACT: RV Service Technicians troubleshoot, repair and service EVERYTHING in the RV except the engine."

RV Techs generally have an interest in precision working, analyzing information and discussing with owners in order to assess what repairs are needed.
